Arsenal Match Report And Players Ratings And Man Of The Match Against KOLN. First LOSS In Europa League

One of the worst matches for Arsenal. After the great win in the North London Derby, we expected to see a continues winning run, but we saw the typical Arsenal that wins against a team that won over Real Madrid 3-1, and losses against a Bundesliga team that didn’t win this season at all and scored 4 league goals only.

Most of the players were below average. It’s a shame for Arsenal to lose such easy matches.

We will rate our players after every match, here is Arsenal Insider players ratings:

Ospina: Had a good save in the 6th minute, and a couple of other saves. Can’t be blamed for the goal at all. 7/10

Mathieu Debuchy:  Booked and caused a penalty. 4/10

Rob Holding:  Average match. He didn’t have a lot to do with Koln defending all the time. 6/10

Per Mertesacker: Wasn’t really tested a lot. Average. 6/10

Calum Chambers: Wasn’t so good as a right wing-back. Even though he used to play in this position. 6/10

Ainsley Maitland-Niles: We can’t expect him to be a game changer, he is still young but did all he can. The players around him were bad. 7/10

Mohamed Elneny: Did his job defensively, and tried to go forward and score in the 45th minute. 6/10

Francis CoquelinTried to score twice with a long shot. Good match for the Frenchman. 7/10

Jack Wilshere:  He was always trying when he has the ball. Maybe the only fighter on the pitch. 7/10

Danny Welbeck:  Missing chances and bad finish, as usual. Was subbed off between the two halves. 4/10

Olivier Giroud: Made Arsenal play with 10 players sometimes and missed one on one chance. 3/10

Subs

Alex Iwobi: Energized the last third and tried to push forward. Had to start over Welbeck. 7/10

Reiss Nelson: Gave some energy and pace to Arsenal. He had to start over Chambers. 7/10
Nketiah: We can’t expect him to do miracles every time. Tried his best though. N/A

Man of the match: None of Arsenal players deserves to be the man of the match. However, Wilshere was the only one that seemed to care and was really trying, but alone can’t do everything.

Arsene Wenger (manager): More senior players played in this match than the previous match against The Red Star Belgrade, and yet, Arsenal loses for the first time this season in the Europa League. Arsenal qualified, but a disappointing qualification for a team that wants to win the trophy. The team lacked spirit and winning mentality, and tactics as well. 3/10
