A bad match for Arsenal with no doubt even though several players performed well and Arsenal won, but that’s not the way big teams win against smaller teams.
Wenger started with three senior players Wilshere, Walcott,Cech and Giroud with no senior player on the bench. Maybe without the red card for Red Star Belgrade, Arsenal would have drew and lost 2 points in a match that seemed easy.
We will rate our players after every match, here is Arsenal Insider players ratings:
Petr Cech: He saved Arsenal from several dangerous chances for Red Star Belgrade. 8/10
Mohamed Elneny: We have to take into consideration that he played out of position. Good game though. 6/10
Rob Holding: It was a hard night for the young defender. 5/10
Reiss Nelson: Good performance especially in the defensive side where he wasn’t so good at before. He is proving that he has a great future.. 8/10
Ainsley Maitland-Niles: He is playing out of position as well by being a left wing back, but he is doing all his best. 6/10
Francis Coquelin: Not a good match. Maybe the least effective player tonight. 4/10
Joe Willock: A great performance for a young player who doesn’t play a lot with the first team. 7/10
Theo Walcott: He is still struggling to get back in form. 5/10
Jack Wilshere: He surely deserves a first team spot in the Premier League. Arsenal’s best player tonight. 8/10
Olivier Giroud: We didn’t notice him a lot, but scored the winning goal. 6/10
Marcus McGuane: N/A
Man of the match: I would go for Wilshere with no doubt. The best on the pitch and fighting for the team. brilliant performance.
Arsene Wenger (manager): Arsenal was going to fail to win against a team that is considered easy to win. Wenger clearly didn’t plan correctly for this game. 4/10
