PLAYERS RATINGS: Arsenal 1-3 Man City

Another poor performance by Arsenal where they got beaten 3-1 by Manchester City away from home, at the Etihad Stadium.

Arsenal had a random and poor defensive structure with a lot of spaces, which didn’t make it very hard for Manchester City to take advantage of the defensive issues and gave Sergio Aguero a hattrick.

All the goals came by defensive mistakes, and the mistake by Alex Iwobi who lost the ball in a dangerous area, instead of getting rid of it.

Another poor match tactically, especially in terms of substitutions, by Unai Emery who still doesn’t want to play Mesut Ozil, even when the team needs to score. Instead, he made Denis Suarez to debut today, who can’t be blamed for not performing well in his debut.

We will rate our players after every match, here is Arsenal Insider players ratings:

Brend Leno:  Was decent today, one of the best, to be honest. Saved his team from several dangerous shots on target, and can’t be fully blamed for the goals he conceded. He touched the ball in the first goal with the tip of his fingers, but couldn’t do much. 7.5/10

Shkodran Mustafi: Not Premier League quality. He wasn’t really marking anyone. Was going to give an early penalty as well. 5/10

Nacho Monreal: Bad positioning for all the goals. 5.5/10

Laurent Koscielny: As well, bad positioning for all the goals. However, scored a goal. 6/10

Stephan Lichtsteiner: Most of Man City’s attacking power was from the right side. He was so poor today. 5/10

Sead Kolasinac: Wasn’t in the game’s mood today. Very poor. 5/10

Lucas Torreira: Was from the very few players trying today. 7/10

Matteo Guendouzi: As well, he was trying and showing some effort and sprayed some accurate balls. 7/10

Alex Iwobi: Was behind the first goal by keeping the ball in a dangerous area, and killed some counter attacks. 5/10

Alexander Lacazette: No shots on target today. But was trying a bit. 6/10

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: Did nothing today, just one shot that was blocked 6/10

Denis Suarez:  It’s harsh to judge him in the first match and such situation. Didn’t offer much though. 5/10

Konstantinos Mavropanos: Not sure why he was subbed on instead of Ozil as well? 5/10

Aaron Ramsey: Nothing much to do. The team gave up by the time Ramsey got on the pitch. 5/10

Man of the match: None from Arsenal’s side. However, Brend Leno deserves some credit for his effort today.

Unai Emery: Another poor match with weird substitutions. Why playing Denis Suarez instead of Mesut Ozil in such a crucial match that Arsenal is losing? Why entering a defender, Marvopanos, when the team is behind in score? 5/10
