Reiss Nelson has been nominated in the list of players for August’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month award. Reiss Nelson surely deserves this nomination, but an we replace Alex Ox Chamberlain?
Reiss Nelson’s was an eye catching player this season where he scored 5 goals in just 3 league goals this season. One goal every 54 minutes on average. Nelson is expected to make his first team debut this season, but could Chamberlains departure forces his debut to be sooner?
Where do they play?
Nelson and Chamberlain are both right footed, which means they can both play on the right side. Chamberlain is better as a right midfielder, while Nelson prefers a right wing role. However, in Arsenal’s preseason tour, Nelson proved that he can play as wingback which is the same position Chamberlain was playing in the 3-4-3 formation.
Wenger and young players
There is no doubt Wenger is the best manager in improving young talents and promote them to the first team and sometimes, unfortunately, sell them after being stars.
Alex Iwobi was the latest to join the first team from Arsenal’s academy.
When can he make his debit?
Reiss Nelson is expected to make his official debut this season, but Wenger shouldn’t put pressure on the young lad so fast. Nelson may play in the EFL Cup, Europa League, and some FA Cup and Premier league matches, where Wenger is expected to play the senior players in.
However, with Arsenal’s performance right now, Arsenal may consider fighting on Europa League’s side to qualify for the Champions league, like Man United last season.
What do you think? Is Nelson a good replacement for Chamberlain?
