Arsene Wenger, Arsenal’s manager, has confirmed that he still wants to sign Monaco’s young star, Thomas Lemar, in the next transfer windows in January, which will make him the most expensive player in the Premier League history.
In an interview with the French television channel, Telefot, Wenger said that Arsenal will try to sign Lemar again in January, and that Wenger believes he is a very important player that Arsenal needs.
Wenger said:” We offered 100m Euros for Monaco to sign Lemar, but Lemar refused to sign and preferred to stay with Monaco.”
Wenger continued:” He preferred to continue with Monaco to improve him self and learn more. He is a young player but already a world class and Arsenal needs such players. We will try to sign him again in January and I hope it works.”
Knowing that Arsenal tried to sign Lemar on the last day of the summer transfer windows for 92m Euros to replace Alexis Sanchez who was going to sign for Manchester City, but Lemar refused the transfer.
However, Arsenal will face a fierce competition from Liverpool,Barcelona,Manchester United, and other big clubs who are interested to sign the French winger.
Thomas Lemar helped Monaco win the French league,Ligue 1, last season after 17 years when he scored 14 goals and made 17 assists in his 55 league games.
